We’re often asked why a large majority of our styles have laces and we don’t focus more on Velcro fastening. It’s a fair question and we get the argument, I have a little girl of my own and she thinks it’s hilarious to contort herself into pretzel like shape to make the task of tying her shoe laces as difficult as possible, at the same time as hysterically laughing at me.
When we’re in a rush to get out the house it can get quite tedious and patience can wear thin, so I fully understand the convenience of Velcro. However, let me put another spin on the discussion around Velcro vs laces which may just make you think twice before buying your next pair of Velcro fastened shoes.
In a world that seems to be dominated by platforms that steel away our attention, whether that be social media (YouTube – Cocomelon in our case!) or the television, it’s nice that we can adopt a traditional process that requires us to take some time and patience, actually having some face to face time with our little ones and perhaps having a bit of fun at the same time.
Everyone seems to be in a rush these days and if we can slow that down just very slightly by retaining a traditional process, then we’re all for it!
